Importance of Intergenerational

Intergenerational means the intermingling or coming together of people from all different generations…children, parents, grandparents, etc. During 2022 LRCFA is curating a handful of public art initiatives to emphasize the importance of these relationships and how they can be used as a tool for growth in our community. Think of the stories your grandmother told you when you were young or the ones you’ve shared to your kids now. These stories are insights into the past, lessons we and our ancestors have learned from experience that inspire how we move and live our lives today.

Unfortunately not everyone has access to these relationships and we understand the importance of restoring these strong connections to help strengthen and bring communities together. Not only that, but social engagement is vital for long term health; these bonds created throughout our life quite literally improve our physical and mental health. They nurture understanding, support mutual respect and can be a catalyst for social change. While gathering feedback from neighborhood associations, community members and governing bodies, LRCFA is proud to educate and create a space to honor the importance of intergenerational arts.

Our Intergenerational Programs focus on community storytelling and artisan relationships.

We understand the strength art has by sharing stories and history directly from the community. We also understand the importance for professional development within the artist community. Our programs are full bodied educational experiences that artists can take beyond the projects they work with us on are vital for sustainable success. The curriculum created by LRCFA team, with years of expertise in the career field, will teach artists the process of working with a client from start to finish. Our team is excited to continue to share our experience and expertise with placemaking through the arts.
